For bids of €1,000 or more, MWS requires a reservation on a credit card (MasterCard, VISA, American Express and JCB cards). This is a temporary hold, not a charge, and it helps us maintain a secure and trustworthy bidding environment.
How it works:
- If this is your first time placing a bid over €1.000 or more, you’ll be asked to make a reservation. The reservation remains active for all your bids over the amount until it's released (see "When it's released" below).
- If you’ve already won and paid for an item between €1.000 - €99.000, you’ll never be asked for a reservation again. Please note that ID verification still applies if you want to make a bid above €50.000.
- If your reservation is released after being outbid, you’ll need to make a new one next time you place a qualifying bid.
| Bid Amount | Reservation Amount | Notes |
| €1.000 - €2.999 | €100 | Reservation is waived if you have previously won and paid for an item over €1.000 |
| €3.000 - €99.999 | €2.000 | Reservation is waived if you have previously won and paid for an item over €3.000 |
| €100.000 and above | €10.000 | Waiver does not apply |
When it’s released:
- 48 hours after you’re outbid, provided you have no other active high bids.
- Immediately after you’ve paid for your winning item and have no other open orders.
The timing of the funds reappearing in your account depends on your bank. We release them immediately once the hold ends.
If payment is not completed:
If you do not pay the full amount of your order within 30 days, the sale will be cancelled. In this case, the reservation will be converted into a charge to cover the loss caused by the unpaid item, and you will lose any rights to the item.
