For bids of €3,000 or more, MWS requires a €2,000 reservation on a credit card (MasterCard, VISA, American Express and JCB cards). This is a temporary hold, not a charge, and it helps us maintain a secure and trustworthy bidding environment.
How it works:
- If this is your first time placing a bid over €3,000, you’ll be asked to make the €2,000 reservation. The reservation remains active for all your bids over €3,000 until it's released (see "When it's released" below)
- If you’ve already won and paid for an item above €3,000, you’ll never be asked for a reservation again.
- If your reservation is released after being outbid, you’ll need to make a new one next time you place a qualifying bid.
When it’s released:
- 48 hours after you’re outbid, provided you have no other active high bids.
- Immediately after you’ve paid for your winning item and have no other open orders.
The timing for the funds to reappear in your account depends on your bank. We release them immediately once the hold ends.
If payment is not completed:
If you do not pay the full amount of your order within 30 days, the sale will be cancelled. In this case, the €2,000 reservation will be converted into a charge to cover the loss caused by the unpaid item, and you will lose any rights to the item.
