We use an auction extension rule. This means an auction may be extended by 3 minutes if a bidder places a bid within 3 minutes before the auction ends. Take a look at the example below:
- An auction is set to close at 15:00
- Bidder A placed a bid at 14:58
- The system extends the auction to 15:01
If another bidder places a bid at 15:00, the clock will automatically reset to 15:03 and so on.
The auction will conclude once there is no bidder by the end of the new auction time.
Please note that when the countdown reaches the final 5 seconds, the status will change to "Almost closing...". You and other bidders can still place bids during this time, which will automatically extend the auction by 3 minutes again.
Please also note that this rule also applies to our "max bid" feature.
When the system automatically bids on your behalf, it counts as a new bid. If a max bid is placed in the last 3 minutes, it will also trigger the 3-minute extension.
For bids of €40.000 or higher, the clock will reset to 10 minutes to allow identity verification.
